In Memory Of
Willie O'Conner Sasser, United States Military, Passed On 06/05/05
Mr. W.O. Sasser was a cadet in the United Army Air Force. After receiving his commission and wings, Lieutenant Sasser was chosen to service school, a pilot training pilot's course. After seventeen months of instructing, he then received his combat training in the largest long-range bomber made. Captain Sasser flew thirty-three combat missions over Japan in the plane he loved, the B-29. He was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Theatre Ribbon with two bronze stars, the Air Medal, with three oak leaf clusters, and the Distinguished Flying Cross with two oak leaf clusters. In 1950 he was recalled into the service of his country in the Korean War. Not only was Mr. Sasser, at such a young age, one of our true heroes during two wars fighting for our freedom; he as well showed all who loved him and respected him what a brave and courageous man he was.
